flash forward

who is J______ ____ntham?

is it Jeremy Bentham

"...Bentham was a violent critic of the revolutionary discourse of natural rights, and of the violence which arose after the Jacobins took power (1792)"

although it looks more like 'antham' on the clipping.

someone from new york living in a downtown LA loft? michael was an artist... the casket seemed tiny though; child, amputation, short guy like ben?
someone kate doesn't like. ben, maybe locke.

The Tower on grand avenue... a 40-50 story iconic tower, maybe?

someone heard loud noises - went to investigate, found the person hanging from a beam? i'm reading bewteen the lines here, i think that's roughly what it says.
maybe "locke was here" or "ben was here" is scratched into the beam? just like brooksy, once he was a 'free man' he found there was nothing to live for. everything he wanted/needed was back on the island/prison.

or not. my first thought was that it was rose, black neighborhood, small casket, she woulda died from her cancer - then of course it says 'man' found, and why would kate hate rose? so yeah, it's not her.

why is kate a free woman? what is jack sick of lying about? the only way i can imagine kate free is if she's under an assumed ID, and if they were rescued thru normal channels, i'm sure she would have been put into custody immediately. but then why is jack himself and not using an alias?

my first thought is that only those at the radio tower were rescued, including ben. i have NO CLUE who naomi was working for, but it's interesting that Ben's manipulative lie seems to have come true this time.

i'll post more during the day.

that was just incredible.

Return of the John Locke

Another home run! Grand slam, even...

First though, a snippet of a post from last season:
They go to a bar to talk, and Dad tells Locke he knows what he did was wrong, but he was dying. “You could have just asked me."
“What do you want from me?”
He explains to Locke that if he hadn’t killed himself off, a couple of guys looking for him would have beaten him to it. “What’d ya do, steal their livers?”
Actually, he took them for $700,000.00 in a retirement scam. A clue that Locke’s dad is likely the man Sawyer has been searching for?

I know I was hardly the only person to make that connection... regardless, very cool that it's been proven true.

Hey Diana, I bet you were imagining Sawyer wearing Leia's slave costume when he was strangling Cooper the Hutt... I know I wasn't.
But I was picturing Ben wearing The Emperors robes when he was trying to coerce Locke into killing his father. Strike him down and join the dark side! We'll tell you everything about the island!
During the Others' trek to the campsite, they should have had them pass the crater from the imploded hatch... Tom could have fallen in and gotten sucked under. The islands very own Saarlac Pit.

Great scene with Locke and Rousseau... I was cracking up the whole time.
Just getting some TNT. Just holding a couple prisoners in the brig.
Carry on, then.

The Jack/rest of the camp dynamic is just nuts. It makes perfect sense, though. I wouldn't trust him. What is it that they won't tell yet? My guess is that Juliet has let Jack in on her working for Ben, and the imminent raid. Rather than tell everyone right away, they're going to wait until right before it happens to get everyone ready (or gone); most likely because there is another mole in the camp. However, Sawyer is going to come back with the tape recorder and fuck that all up. No one will ever trust her then, and they'll trust Jack even less for conspiring with her.

The pillar Cooper the Hutt was tied to was cool too... more ruins from the ancient Simpsons that used to rule the island?

I'm pretty sure Richard Alpert - Be Here Now, baby! - was telling the truth. Locke really is like a C-3PO to their ewoks (These writers really must have loved Return of the Jedi). Even Ben acknowledges this, telling Locke he's responsible for his rapid healing. The further away from the chicken in the fridge he gets, the better he'll feel - i think that's all this means - Locke reminded them they need to be closer to nature... Now Locke has served Ben's purpose, however, and he sets him up to fail in front of everyone, hoping to diminish him in their eyes as well. It's not working. Locke will soon be leading the Others, hopefully in time to stop the raid. He's gonna blow Ben's fucking mind when he shows up with the dead Cooper.

Still not sure about Naomi - she could be who she says she is, or she could be an other returning from the outside world after getting info on the new guy, Desmond. Crazy shit about 815 and everyone in it being videotaped at the bottom of the ocean... I wonder if Mr. Paik or Mr. Widmore hired ILM or WETA for this? Capricorn One, anybody? Great line when she asks for Sayid's name, so she can be sure to NOT rescue him. Heh heh.

Only a few more episodes left...
